Crystal Ball
Crystal Ball is a song off of Pink’s album Funhouse, which was released in 2008. The song depicts life as a crystal ball with cracks. While a day may begin normally, things can become peculiar and ‘cracks’ can occur within the crystal ball of time. The lyrics convey that life wouldn’t be the same without these ironic moments and trading them in for a regular day wouldn’t teach you the lessons that are actually significant.
“Sometimes you think everything is wrapped inside a diamond ring
Love just needs a witness and a little forgiveness
And a halo of patience and a less sporadic pace and
I'm learning to be brave in my beautiful mistakes.”
The soft calming harmony of the guitar entwining with Pink’s amazing raspy voice creates soothing morsels of truth. The catchy chorus and raw-in-your-face lyrics, reminds the listener to take life for exactly what it is and deal with each instant as it appears. It’s the bad mistakes that make an individual a stronger person and to grow from the past not dwell upon it.
“Oh I've felt that fire and I've been burned
But I wouldn't trade the pain for what I've learned
I wouldn't trade the pain for what I've learned.”
The song splashes on to the heart and mind everything that makes life what it is. It brings upon the ideas, that people should live life for what it is, don’t regret and the fractures in each day make us who we are.
