We had to survive an earthquake and a hurricane to get here, but we’ve all made it back to another semester at Brooklyn College. On behalf of everyone at the Boylan Blog, I’d like to greet both new and familiar faces with a warm welcome. A new beginning always implies an ending, and as we anticipate that first Fall chill in the air, we have to kiss goodbye to the warm summer sun that guided us through the last few months. The magic of September, though, is that it provides us both with reminders of Summer and intimations of Fall. We here at the Boylan Blog are all about embracing the best of both worlds as well—a little bit of the old and a little bit of the new. On that note, I’d like to welcome Kerry, Sarah, Margie, Ryan, and Mira, who will be adding their fresh voices to the mix on this semester’s blog, along with some familiar voices from last Spring.
Whether you spent your summer in transit, in the classroom, in the workplace, or on the couch, we hope it put you in the right mindset to delve into a semester full of exciting moments of growth, challenges, learning, and just plain fun. Starting with this week’s batch of articles, you can check out the Boylan Blog every Monday for new posts on music, literature, news, art, culture, and more, as well as English Department news and announcements. But if the blog doesn’t satiate your hunger for all things English, you’re always welcome to come by the English Majors’ Counseling Office in 3416 Boylan during the week to see what’s going on, ask us your questions, and pick up that copy of the 2011 Junction that you've been missing all summer.
Without further ado, start scrolling! If you have a thought you want to share, jump into the conversation by commenting on a post. We’d love to hear from you!
