Dear Spring Weather,

That was very clever of you. You stayed back, for months, played hard to get, so that now when we finally see you, we remember what you’re like, are enticed by you, want to play with you. Even if you stopped by and it was a school day, you bring hopes of spring weekends, where we can frolic and enjoy you. Very cleaver weather, you get this round. My hat is off to you.

Onto more important things, this week brings us one step closer to summer break so I hope everyone is putting in their best efforts and tackling those mounds of work I know we are all slowly feeling the weight of, but before you go here are just a few reminder…

Things you should know:

- Tonight Monday March 17th from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM, join us for the Indesign Basics Workshop Located in the Library, Room 038.

-Each spring the English department gives the opportunity for undergraduate (and graduate) students to win Awards through a variety of writing contests. The submission deadline for these Awards is March 24th: submit all writings to 2308 Boylan, the English Department.

-Goodman Short Story Award- Awarded to stories
The Dorothy B. Jervis Award for Science Writing- Submit an essay on a scientific subject written in language accessible to the lay reader

-Katherine Rose Phillips Memorial Award- Write a work of unconventional or genre-bending fiction

-The English Award in Poetry Exegesis- Awarded to the best explication of a selected poem (Students competing for this award will meet in Boylan 3108 on March 19th, from 2:15 to 4:15 where they will write and submit their pieces.)

-Randolph Goodman Shakespeare Essay Award- Write and excellent essay on any aspect of Shakespeare's writing (submit to Boylan 2308)

-Bertha and Phillip Goodman Short Story Award- Awards go to the three undergraduate students who write the best short stories

Do you want to compete for these awards, but need a safe space to have others read and offer feedback? Come on down to the Writer's Circle (supported by the Poetry Club), located in Boylan 2307 on Tuesday's at 12:30- 2:00 pm. All writing genres are welcomed. We can't wait to see you there!
