Currently Listening

Hey guys!!!
I'm currently listening to Stromae. I was put on to Stromae after hearing him in the French restaurant I work at. Stromae does amazing vocal work and electronic work. His music is painfully beautiful even if you do not understand his lyrics. Stromae is originally from Belgium and found himself in the American music scene after remixing songs with Kanye West and Angel Haze. After poring over his lyrics and song writing skills- I am continuously impressed. And I hope everyone gets to listen and has the same impression I did. Whether it is dance music or just a slow jam- Stromae does it all.
So have a listen guys!!

This song is called Papauotai and was released in 2013 by Stromae. Check out the video and you can get a slight sense of his style and sound.
The lyrics translated from French to English can be found below:

Tell me where it's from
Finally i'd be where i want
Mother says when we search good
We'll be done looking forever
She says he is never very far
he goes to work every day
Mother says working is good
Better than being in bad company
isn't it?
Where are you, papa?
Tell me, where are you papa?
Without even talking to him,
he knows what he did wrong.
It's holy papa,
Tell me where are you broken!
It must...
I have at least one thousand times, I
Counted my fingers
Hé!
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you, are you, where papa, are you?
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you, are you, where papa, are you?
Even, if we believe it or not
There'll be a day we'll believe it no more
A day or another, we'll be complete papa
And one day or the other we'll be going away
Will we be hateful?
Will we be admirable?
Broodstock or geniuses
Tell us who gave
responsibility without caring!
Ah tell us who has diarrhea
Everyone knows
how to raise a child
But no one knows
How to raise a father
Mister i know it all,
We have inherited, that's it.
Sucking his thumb too much or what?
Tell us where it's broken,
It must...
be at least one thousand times we have
eaten our fingers
Hé!
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you, are you, where papa, are you?
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you, are you, where papa, are you?
Where are you, papa?
Tell me, where are you papa?
Without even talking to him,
he knows what he did wrong.
It's holy papa,
Tell me where are you broken!
It must...
I have at least one thousand times, I
Counted my fingers
Hé!
Where are you, papa?
Tell me, where are you papa?
Without even talking to him,
he knows what he did wrong.
It's holy papa,
Tell me where are you broken!
It must...
I have at least one thousand times, I
Counted my fingers
Hé!
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you, are you, where papa, are you?
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you? Pa, where are you?
Where are you, are you, where papa, are you?

Stromae's content is lyrical, imaginative, and incredibly intimate. He gives listeners an emotional and tangible subject to relate to. This generous universality gives Stromae's writing and vocals such underlining passion.

Have a wonderful week, and listen to some French music!! :)
