Greetings 2.9.15

Salutations and welcome, friendly folk. Make yourselves comfortable, you're in it now. But that doesn't mean we can't entertain ourselves. Just look at all the English Department has to offer this semester:

  • Our Spring 2015 Open Mic extravaganza has a date: Tuesday February 24th! A sign up sheet will be put up on the door of 3416 Boylan presently, so in the meantime mark it down folks, clear your schedule for 12:15-2:15 and start your moth exercises now. Repeat with me: Literally literary. Reading and writing are richly rewarding.
  • And don't forget about The Junction! Our call for submissions ends around mid-March, so submit your best poetry or short fiction or visual art STAT. Or if submitting your own stuff isn't your thing, reach out to people who you think might enjoy submitting. Submit online at bczinesubmissions [at] gmail [dot] com.
  • But that's not all! Students should also submit to 2014-2015 CUNY/Labor Arts Contest by March 2nd. They're accepting submissions in fiction, non-fiction, poetry and visual art, the only caveat being that the pieces have something to do with labor or labor issues. For more details, check out www.laborarts.org/contest. A Brooklyn college student won last year so you should all definitely consider it. Oh it also offers a cool thousand bucks for the winner, so get on that.
Whew that's a lot of stuff, and I'm sure I missed some fun things, so if anyone has any questions about English department goings-on, feel free to stop by Boylan 3416. We answer questions, tell jokes, and offer inspirational gifs.
