Canvas 5.11.15

Contemporary artist Kazuhito Takadoi's embroidery work, is a unique twist on the art form. He uses material found in nature, dries and stitches them into beautiful multidimensional creations. He does not dye or alter the colour of the material he uses in his pieces. His work is mind blowing because it is a different take on the traditional idea of what embroidery is. When think about embroidery, I see it as an old lady hobby-- something to do when I'm 65 years old at the YMCA. Takadoi takes this craft and flips it on its head, creating masterpieces from foliage, sticks, mushrooms and plants. Here are a few of his pieces:
